Moltke & Mörike

Pogo chaos, self-doubt and telling the Nazi neighbour where to go. That is Moltke & Mörike: punk music with indie vibes in German. Can the wheel still be reinvented in music? Probably not. Certainly not in punk, and even less so in Ulm. The three guys are aware of that. And yet they do it anyway, true to the motto: “If not us, who?”

In the end that doesn’t matter anyway. Because Moltke & Mörike come across as authentic and, somewhere between garage sound and indie ballad, sing about a world that raises more questions than it answers.

Their stance is clear at every moment. The themes of the lyrics are nothing new, yet at the same time more topical than ever and still important. They combine the anger of their generation with sarcasm, attention to detail and a reflective view of society – and manage it without a wagging finger. The combination of intelligent, substantial lyrics and music that sways back and forth between punk, indie and pop comes across with naturalness and ease.
