FLIEGENDE HAIE
The electropop duo from Augsburg/Munich sinks its razor-sharp shark teeth into current topics such as gender equality and mental health. Kristina and Jan pump an extraordinary sound from Bavaria into the republic, with which, alongside 50,000 Spotify streams, they have also collected coverage and placements in major newspapers and radio stations. So the two predators snap up successes like “Band of the Week” (Süddeutsche Zeitung) – and WDR Sputnik host and rapper Lumara likewise celebrates the sharks’ “really awesome music”.
Their sound: sharp electropop – club beats and synth worlds; there is a bit of Stromae in it, something of the Orsons, Sofi Tukker. Plus sharply honed German lyrics that circle the borderland between singing and rap, sometimes melodious, sometimes driving in staccato, sounding out the potential of female and male voice.
With three singles the sharks announced their first album, each making bigger waves, and on 24 February the debut AMOR UND PSYCHE finally surfaced from those waves.
